Claudia Jensen Dudley and Lori Hedrick Helfand met at Stanford University over 30 years ago. They have been friends ever since, living and traveling together at various points, being present for the milestones in each other’s lives. This album represents their first (and inevitable) artistic collaboration.
Sushila’s Canticles were recorded direct-to-CD, analog mode, in the living room of the singer, with the composer at the keyboard. The piano is a Steinway “M” series, lovingly rebuilt and tuned by Marshall Anderson. Piano and voice were miked separately but recorded on a single track. The recordings were edited and engineered by Terry Amato of Portland, Oregon, in collaboration with Lori Hedrick Helfand.
